Weightloss Week 8 & 9

Catalyst to Losing Weight

What's a catalyst?  Dictionary.com says a substance that increase the rate of a chemical reaction without itself undergoing any permanent chemical change. and a person or thing that precipitates an event. In this weightloss program the thing that precipitates losing weight is what Dr. Wayne Anderson in his book Dr A's Habits of Health defines as "Medically formulated PCMR's are a powerful tool as part of a comprehensive approach to healthy eating."  (Anderson, 2008, pg 72).

PCMR (Portion Controlled Meal Replacements)

Dr A goes on and gives a list of: Benefits of  PCMR's;
  • They're cost effective. "because you'll be replacing most of your groceries and snacks with PCMR's, you'll be spending the same or even less than you are now on food." (Anderson, 2008, pg 74).
  • They offer plenty of variety . "Today's PCMR's help you fight taste fatigue with lots of great tasting flavor options." (Anderson, 2008, pg 74).
  • They help you control calories. "New technologies have developed advanced medically formulated PCMR's with the nutritional footprint to keep you in a fat-burning state while protecting muscle." (Anderson, 2008, pg 74).
He goes on to explain "Medically formulated PCMR's provide a balance of high quality protein and complex carbohydrates, along with twenty-four vitamins and minerals, to protect your body and help you feel full and satisfied. And because they give you a scientifically determined dose of energy-between 99 and 160 per dose - you'll find it much easier to control your energy intake." (Anderson, 2008, pg 74).

Lean and Green Meals

My family isn't up to eating fish that often due to my pickiness as well as my children's. I am learning to not be as picky so we have gone from not eating fish at all in our meals to once a month at this point which is a nice starting point. It can be super expensive to buy fish but I am trying to incorporate it some. Dr A say's  "one serving of fish a week may reduce your risk of fatal heart attack by 40 percent." (Anderson, 2008, pg 79).

Phase I

I am currently in this phase and loving mostly what is happening to my body. I feel like I am melting away with mostly benefits and only a few terrible drawbacks but nothing worth staying stuck in being sick. Dr A gives a definition without a in stone answer of a question that gets asked all the time "How long you stay in Phase I depends primarily on how much weight you have to lose and how long you take to lose it, as well as your target BMI." (Anderson, 2008, pg 84).

He clarify's when your ready to transition to phase II "if your waist circumference is less than 37 inches (for men) or 32.5 (for women) and your BMI is less than 25, you're ready to transistion to Phase II. In general, you should count on being in Phase I untill you meet your goals and are able to maintain them for at least two weeks." (Anderson, 2008, pg 85).

This is why it's important to monitor our progress through our journey of not just weighing ourselves but to take measurements and pay attention to non-scale victories. After a couple more weeks I am down two pant sizes and in size 14 pants and capri's. Alot of my shirts are looser fitting on me and some I just flat swim in now. I am down to 202lbs.

 I am also down a total of 15lbs of weight gone forever.

This is something I want to end this post with about how this struck me. Personally I have relieved 60lbs of pressure off my poor knees.
